Caribseas Ltd. began operations in November 1991 when the M/V Leana made its first call to Port St. John’s. Since then, Seaboard Marine has operated a weekly Caribbean service from the Port of Miami, with Caribseas Ltd. acting as its agent in Antigua/Barbuda.

Seaboard Marine has added transshipment services, and Antigua/Barbuda can source cargo from South/Central America, All North America, and several Caribbean Countries.

On 8 December 2022, The Antigua and Barbuda Port Authority opened an upgraded terminal at Port St. John’s where multiple vessels can operate, either with a Ro-Ro or Lo-Lo service.
