POSITION SUMMARY:                

This position is responsible for providing support to traffic coordinators with bookings and attending phones.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

  • One (1) year of experience handling traffic, documentation, and/or customer service functions for ocean transportation.
  • Ability to deal effectively with public. Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Basic skills in programs such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to communicate (read and write) effectively in a business environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in prioritizing projects delegated by supervisor.
  • Ability to work extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as necessary.

Preferred

  • HAZMAT Certification.
  • Ability to type 50 WPM.
  • Intermediate skills in programs such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary

  • Work with LCL warehouse system updating information and sending documents to customers.
  • Email and call customers to obtain invoices and confirm that cargo can be shipped.
  • Match documents/invoices with dock receipts, file AES with customs, release cargo to WHS to be loaded  prepare bills of ladings.

Secondary

  • Make bookings.
  • Attend the phones.
  • Act as back up for our other traffic coordinators.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use his/her fingers.
  • The employee frequently is required to talk and/or hear.
  • The employee is continuously required to sit.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Reports directly to the Caribbean Division Manager. Does not exercise supervision over any position.

 

CONDITIONS:

  • Indoors office, controlled temperature environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually busy with phones and other working personnel.
