POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for a variety of general HR functions with an emphasis on employee relations and workplace investigations. This position also assists with performance management and recruitment. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- A minimum of one (1) year of current work experience in HR with emphasis on Employee Relations in a corporate environment, or three (3) to twelve (12) months of experience and a bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field such as Organizational Psychology, Business Administration.

Working knowledge of employment laws, guidelines, and other applicable local, state, and federal laws.

Demonstrated ability to foster positive employee relations and partner with management to drive HR and Business initiatives.

Intermediate skills in programs such as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. (Able to learn and work with if statements, VLOOKUP’s, conditional formatting, and pivot tables).

Intermediate to advanced written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish to communicate at different levels throughout the organization and with exterior organizations, candidates, etc.

Must have the ability to read and write at an advanced level in a business environment.

Possess organizational and time management skills with ability to prioritize and be detail oriented.

Possess high energy level, comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with normal activities.

Ability to work independently with limited supervision, multitask and possess strong initiative.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and fellow employees.

Ability to think logically, establish and follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions.

Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures.

Ability to work a flexible schedule, extended hours, holidays, and/or weekends as needed.

Must be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment.
Preferred

Possess active HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM- SCP).

Prior experience dealing with workplace investigations in response to allegations of discrimination.

Prior experience in handling performance appraisals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary
-
Responsible for investigating, drafting and presenting disciplinary actions to employees as well as reviewing disciplinary activity and for tracking employee relations metrics such as turnover, complaints, discipline, etc.

Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation.

Conducts stay and exit interviews.
-
Monitors employment practices to identify and proactively rectify adverse impact.

Assists with the performance appraisal process: orientation and year-end performance evaluations.

Assists Managers with drafting job descriptions, completing interview feedback forms and preparing documentation to substantiate the need for replacement of additional staff.

Assists employees with health and wellness benefits program which includes health, dental, short- and long-term disability, and 401k plan.

Assists employees with worker’s compensation or leave of absence related questions, as needed.

Stay abreast of and changes in applicable employment laws.

Assist and support HR and Upper management to ensure that policy is applied consistently.

Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information, recommending courses of action.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Reports directly to the HR Supervisor and HR Manager. This position does not exercise supervision over any position.
CONDITIONS:

Indoors office, controlled temperature environment.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to telephones and employees that approach the department.
