Seaboard Marine was recently honored by Logistics Management in their 29th annual “Quest for Quality” as the second best ocean carrier in overall performance.

For nearly three decades, Logistics Management’s annual survey has been regarded in the transportation industry as the most important measure of customer satisfaction and performance excellence. To determine which providers win the awards, over 4,700 Logistics Management readers chose top performers in various transportation sectors. In the category of ocean shipping, weighted scores from five key criteria were used: on-time performance, value, information technology, customer service, and equipment/operations. More than thirty (30) shipping lines received votes. The results were announced in the August, 2012 issue of Logistics Management.

Horizon Lines posted the highest combined score, barely edging Seaboard Marine for the overall top ranking for ocean lines. Those carriers that followed in the next four spots were Evergreen, Crowley, Maersk and OOCL.

Of the five categories, Seaboard Marine was the only shipping line to receive the highest score in two different categories: on-time performance and value. Further, Seaboard Marine impressively ranked third amongst all shipping lines in the information technology category.

Edward Gonzalez, Seaboard Marine President, said, “The employees of Seaboard Marine are extremely proud to be honored by Logistics Management and its readers, particularly being the only carrier to be top ranked in two separate categories. Seaboard Marine strives every day to provide the most reliable and highest quality service to all of our customers. The prestigious Quest for Quality award shows that our customers value and recognize our efforts and we are very grateful and appreciative of their support.”
