Seaboard Marine wishes to advise its valued customers that inland transportation in Guatemala is currently experiencing disruptions following the collapse of the Güijo Bridge, located at kilometer 111 of the CA-9 Norte (Ruta al Atlántico) in Usumatlán, Zacapa.

The bridge was severely damaged following a traffic accident over the weekend, resulting in the closure of this portion of CA-9 Norte. This roadway is a major transportation corridor connecting Guatemala’s interior with the country’s Atlantic region and ports.

Guatemalan authorities are working to establish alternate routes for commercial vehicles while efforts continue to restore connectivity. In the meantime, customers transporting cargo by truck within Guatemala, particularly to or from the Port of Santo Tomás, should anticipate the potential of longer inland transit times, increased traffic congestion, and possible delays in cargo pickup and delivery.

Seaboard Marine’s team in Guatemala continue to monitor the situation and its impact on inland transportation. Customers with time-sensitive cargo are encouraged to plan accordingly and allow additional time for inland movements.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as local authorities work to restore normal traffic conditions. For assistance with your shipment or questions regarding inland transportation, please contact your Seaboard Marine representative.
