Seaboard Marine wishes to advise our valued customers of a new government-mandated ozone sanitization treatment requirement for refrigerated export containers from Nicaragua.
Effective September 1, 2026, all containers loaded with export meat products destined for any market must arrive for export with a valid OIRSA-issued Ozone Quarantine Treatment Certificate and be properly sealed.
Government inspectors require that the certificate of fumigation is presented and will verify the container has the government’s seal intact before the container can be loaded on the vessel for export. Containers that do not comply with these requirements will be rejected by the relevant authority and cannot be exported.
As a result of this requirement, effective October 4, 2026, Seaboard Marine will implement the following charge:
Ozone Treatment Surcharge: $350.00 USD per Container That Requires Ozone Fumigation
This charge will apply under Tariffs 049 (U.S.A. Trades) and 050 (Non-U.S.A. Trades).
