Honduras Offices and Facilities Open; Curfews Lifted.
October 08, 2009

All of our offices and facilities in Honduras are open, fully staffed, and operating normally.

Due to ex-President Zelaya’s return three weeks ago to the Brazilian Embassy in Tegucigalpa, the government temporarily imposed a curfew that was lifted within 72 hours. All roads are fully open and Seaboard Marine continues to normally spot and pick up equipment from /to our many of our customers’ facilities. The port of Puerto Cortes continues to operate normally and our ships are working as usual.  All of Seaboard’s vessels are following regular rotations and schedules to Honduras. Even under the curfew conditions of  last month, Seaboard’s port staff and key personnel had been provided authorization by the local officials to reach their work centers and complete their normal assignments.

Please note that for over three months since the initial late June ouster of ex-president Zelaya, Seaboard Marine’s services in Honduras have continued without interruption. Over this time frame we have loaded and discharged over seventy (70) vessels and nearly 11,000 containers without any delays.

We will update this article, as needed, for any new developments. Seaboard appreciates the patience and support of its valued customers.
