Honduras Continues to Operate Normally
August 07, 2009
All of our facilities and offices in Honduras continue to function and operate normally despite the ouster of President Zelaya in late June.
All vessels, including those of Seaboard and other shipping lines, have been timely discharged and loaded at Puerto Cortes, the main port in Honduras. All of Seaboard's vessels have remained on their normal rotations and schedules. All imported cargo that has arrived has been normally cleared by Honduran Customs and has been timely delivered to customers. Trucking operations continue to be normal. Although there have been a few scattered disturbances in certain cities, all major roads are open and cargoes moving to Nicaragua through Honduras are moving smoothly.
Seaboard’s offices in Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula have been fully staffed all summer and functioning as usual. Likewise, all of our container depots and terminals have been working without any interruptions. Cargo bookings and volumes are at normal seasonal levels. We have loaded and discharged over thirty (30) vessels and nearly 5,000 containers without any delays in the past seven weeks.
We will update this article, if needed, for any new developments.
