Perez-Jones Presented Florida International Achievement Award
September 16, 2011
Jose Perez-Jones, Seaboard Marine Senior Vice President, was recognized last night as a 2011 recipient of the Florida International Achievement Award by the World Trade Center. This was the 26th year that the World Trade Center Miami has presented this award to outstanding executives and corporations whose unqualified commitment to the promotion of international trade and tourism has done the most to advance Florida’s position as a trade and business leader in the Americas.
In presenting the award, Charlotte Gallogly, President of World Trade Center Miami, said, “Jose Perez-Jones has been a tireless advocate throughout Latin America and the Caribbean of expanding international trade with Miami. He can always be counted on to promote the advantages of free trade to our community and to passionately educate those that are not always aware of the beneficial economic and job-creation activity that trade creates. The international business community is deeply appreciative of the results he has achieved in advancing Florida’s position as the ‘Business, Trade and Logistics Capital of the Americas’.”
Edward Gonzalez, President of Seaboard Marine, added, “It was wonderful to be with Joe and his family during this special night. All of us at Seaboard Marine are grateful for Joe’s efforts at local, national and international levels and are extremely proud that he is deservedly receiving such recognition. Joe not only does a great job of advocating the interests of Seaboard Marine but he truly cares about making our community and our nation a better place by strengthening relationships through commerce.”
Perez-Jones was recognized along with fellow award winners Bill Talbert, President of the Greater Miami Tourism and Visitors Bureau, and Manny Mencia, Senior VP of Enterprise Florida. More than 600 business executives and foreign trade officials attended last night’s award banquet, the largest attended international business awards program in Florida.
Prior award recipients, recognized for their outstanding leadership and performance in enhancing two-way trade and tourism, have included former Florida Governor’s Jeb Bush and Lawton Chiles; former U.S. Senator Bob Graham; Cardon Walker, CEO of Walt Disney Productions; and Juan Cento, President of FedEx Latin America.
