M/V Seaboard Spirit Completes 2,000th Voyage
May 20, 2011
The M/V Seaboard Spirit, a German-built roll-on, roll-off vessel, recently completed its 2,000th voyage. The Panamanian-flagged ship has been reliably used by Seaboard Marine in the Bahamian trade since the 1990s. It currently averages over 150 sailings per year.
Built in 1985, the M/V Seaboard Spirit is well suited for the thrice-weekly short-transit sailings between the Port of Miami and Nassau. With an overall length of 300’ and a beam of 44’, it is capable of carrying a variety of cargoes, including rolling stock and building materials, yet it’s shallow draft and bowthruster allow the versatile vessel to comfortably navigate the unique channels and harbors, both in Miami and Nassau.
Seaboard Marine’s Stephen Bell, Vice President - Caribbean Services, said, “Our customers in Nassau have the comfort in knowing that the Seaboard Spirit provides a reliable and timely transit for all of their cargoes including groceries, consumer goods, and out-of-guage materials. We congratulate Captain Gallardo and his crew for their many years of service to Seaboard Marine and its many customers in the Bahamas.”
