Seaboard Provides Toys to Hospitalized Children
December 24, 2010
December 24, 2010. The Jackson Memorial Toy Drive provides Christmas gifts to hospitalized children to all of the South Florida locations of the Jackson Health System, which operates several hospitals and health facilities throughout Miami-Dade County. For more than 20 years, Seaboard has annually supported the Jackson Memorial Toy Drive by collecting toy and monetary contributions and delivering them directly to these less fortunate children.
The 2010 effort was once again spearheaded by one of our local employees, Tina Marrero, who energetically helped deliver the toys and gifts to children of all ages – ranging from toddlers to teenagers. This year Seaboard Marine adopted a floor, which focuses on children undergoing treatment for terminal illnesses, at the Pediatric Transplant Unit at Holtz Children’s Hospital (part of the Jackson Health System).
Marrero said, “A group of Seaboard employees based at the Port of Miami, with assistance from the company and fellow employees, have been providing toys to disadvantaged children for over two decades. In the spirit of giving, we all look forward to helping bring smiles and laughter to these wonderful kids who have such an inspirational spirit. We delivered toys to more than 200 hospitalized children this week and enjoyed making their holidays a bit brighter. ”
