Seaboard Supports Corporate Run for Leukemia
May 02, 2008
May 2, 2008. Eighty-three Seaboard Marine employees joined more than 20,300 participants in the annual Mercedes Benz Corporate Run held last night in downtown Miami. Starting at Bayfront Park near the entrance of the Port of Miami, the 3.1 mile road race/walk is open to all South Florida employers. “Team Seaboard” has been involved for more than twelve years in showing our support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Mercedes Benz Corporate Run, one of the largest in the nation, is a major fundraiser for finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and Hodgkin’s Disease, as well as improving the quality of life of these patients and their families. The society also strives to generate public awareness, attract and develop professional and volunteer resources and raise the funds necessary to accelerate programs and achieve its mission.
Besides supporting a worthy cause, Seaboard Marine finds the event encourages camaraderie within our workplace as virtually every department was represented. The “Team Seaboard” hospitality tent is always known as a friendly and lively post-race meeting point for not only our employees but those of our customers and vendors. Maggie Angulo, Seaboard’s Director of Human Resources said, “Besides improving their own health and fitness, it’s great that over 80 of our valued employees spent an enjoyable evening supporting a tremendous charity.”
